We’re home!! I suppose you were probably wondering where I’ve been for the last week. If you’ve emailed or called and left a message – don’t worry!! I’m getting back to everyone as quickly as I can. The fam and I were on a fantastic Hawaiian getaway vacation and I decided to make it a work-free trip. Lovely right?! Hawaii with toddlers is a little bit different than Hawaii as a teenager on a family vacation (think lots of bike rides and hikes) or Hawaii as a young couple (think lots of fruity drinks and drawn out sunset gazes) both of which are quite nice. With toddlers going on vacation is a bit of a marathon. How much can you do/see/experience while still attempting to maintain some semblance of a “schedule” for things like napping, bedtime and eating. I’m pretty impressed with how much we actually managed to do and how much fun we had at the same time. The kids were great on the flight and Ben and I even managed to get away for a date night one night. It was a marvelous trip. Here are a couple of quick vacation snapshots, just in case you need a vacation from your desk. Feel free to imagine yourself on ours.

We went to a goat farm (and learned that our less than 2 year old daughter loves goat cheese)

Went to the aquarium and farmers market and wore lots of cute matching Hawaiian outfits (well at least the twins did, not Ben and I :) )

Watched lots of gorgeous sunsets

Learned to love sunglasses and hats (is Amelia in sunglasses not the cutest thing EVER?!) and spent lots of quality time with family

Of course visited the beach and played in the sand

And did I mention the SUNSETS?! Sigh.

If you’re a loyal blog follower (and I know you’re out there ;) ) you’ve probably noticed that the posting has been few and far between (sorry!!). It’s not because I’m not busy. It is, in fact, exactly the opposite! I have been out of town EVERY.SINGLE.WEEKEND this month and it’s been craziness!

Just to give a little update on where all of my travels have taken me here’s a brief recap :)

The first weekend in August I headed off to my 10 year high school reunion. Ok, I’m lying a little. It wasn’t MY 10 year reunion but it might as well have been! All of my friends in high school were in the class of ’99. The fact that I wasn’t in that class as well is just a technicality :) I got to see some of my very best and oldest girlfriends and it was so much fun!

The next weekend was my birthday (shared with my mom of course) and we had a birthday weekend at their house, so the babies got a lot of quality grandma and grandpa time, as well as a few fun new toys. They love it there!

After that… get ready for it…. HOUSEBOATING TRIP! Yes, we must be crazy, we took our 11 month old twins on a houseboat and wakeboarding trip with my family. It was actually amazingly fun and it went really well (who would have thought?!) and I even remember how to wakeboard. I was pretty pleased with myself for remembering :)

Next trip (are you getting tired reading this?! I’m tired just remembering all the travel!) we hopped a plane to Kansas City to visit my sister in law and their brand new baby girl. I already posted pictures of baby Charlotte but what I didn’t post yet are a few of the pictures of the plane ride (it was the first time they got to sit in seats… very exciting!) or their time with their grandparents. We flew Midwest Airlines, which gives you fresh baked cookies they make on the plane (awesome!) and amazing service. How can you beat warm cookies on an airplane?!

And finally… this last weekend… San Francisco! Of course I had the amazing wedding of Nick & Emma to photograph but I also happen to have lots of friends and family up in the bay area. We got to spend a few days in the city and eat some DELICIOUS food at the Universal Cafe (doesn’t this just make you drool?)

Plus one of my very best friends is getting married (to another of our good friends, convenient how that works out!) and we went wedding dress shopping at the amazing Amy Kuschel boutique. I won’t post any pictures of Jean in the dresses (it’s got to be a surprise for Tyler!) but this store was literally brimming with beautiful things. Love it!
