As I mentioned in my last post I’ve been out of town for a week which explains my lack of blogging and my slow email response time in the last few days. If you’ve emailed me recently and haven’t heard back please sit tight and thank you so much for your patience! I didn’t have nearly as much free time for work on my trip as I would have liked and it’s going to take me a few days to get caught up.
So where exactly was I you may ask? I was down in San Diego visiting family and celebrating some pretty exciting news! It’s a big year for my family because both my brother AND my sister are recently engaged. My brother lives out in NYC with his fiance (who just happens to be one of my best friends from college, lucky me
) and they were in town for a fabulous fiesta engagement party. While we were all in town I was lucky enough to shoot engagement photos for both Chris and Tara and for Allison and Mark as well. I had an absolute blast and I cannot wait to show you both of these sessions. Working with people who are fun and bursting with personality (which all of these folks happen to be) is my absolute favorite and I have to admit that the fact that they’re all family made it just that much better.
I know that my sister is blog stalking me until I post up at least a teaser photo so I figured I’d do one from each session to hold everyone over until I get a chance to do the full post. So without further ado my fabulous siblings…
My brother Chris and his fiance Tara (sorry for the goofy hat photo Tara, I just couldn’t resist
it’s too cute!)

Jessica and Sal got engaged at Disneyland, so when it came time to pick a spot for their engagement photos it was the obvious choice! I happen to love Disneyland so any chance to do my job (taking photographs) while hanging out with an awesome couple like these two AND roaming around the happiest place on earth all at the same time was like a perfect afternoon for me
I loved how their super vibrant outfits just happened to go perfectly with all of the spots that we picked out while walking around, it was like it was meant to be! I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’ve been a little bit sparse in the blog posting but that’s just because I’ve actually been out of town for a whole week… more on that to come… so I haven’t had much time for getting my blog posts together. I did however manage to collect a few of my favorites from the session so that Jessica and Sal could get a sneak peek!

Trying to balance on a carousel while holding a camera in front of your face and avoiding being knocked over by the moving horses turned out to be trickier than I’d imagined, but I’m glad we tried it because I love this shot!
We also made a stop over in California Adventure for part of the afternoon. There are some great areas with bright colors, plus it was a lot less crowded!
Jessica and Sal thank you so much for a fabulous afternoon at Disneyland
I met up with Kelsey and Mel last week for their engagement session in Balboa Park. They wanted to do something fun and I love the zoo so I was thrilled when they went along with the suggestion to start out there! We met up at the zoo on a fabulous San Diego afternoon and spent lots of time wandering around and chatting before we started on the “official business” of photographing the couple. Mel was a bit shy so the extra time to get to know each other really helped out! I love spending time with a couple and seeing them get more and more relaxed as the day goes by… Mel I hope you hold Kelsey to your deal and make her take you out for a fabulous meal for being such a good sport in front of the camera
I had a great time with these two… here are just a couple of my favorites from their session!
Sorry guys but I just couldn’t resist putting this one on the blog… embarrassing but fun
Here’s a much sweeter one to make up for it… this is one of my favorites!
After the zoo we headed out to the cactus garden for a few photos… this obviously isn’t a cactus but I still love this shot!
And after the cactus garden it was off to the main part of Balboa Park to finish up the session… a few of my favorites from that area
Kelsey and Mel thank you so much for being such great sports even though I know you don’t *love* being in front of the camera
Rocio and Rob are such a sweet couple and so much fun to hang out with!! They wanted to do a beach engagement session and I wanted to try out a new location so we decided to meet in Manhattan Beach. I love that it’s smaller, cozier and less crowded than Santa Monica, plus we had a gorgeous day for hitting the beach! Rocio and Rob warmed up right away to the camera and we had so much fun wandering around the beach and the pier. Here are just a few of my favorites from their session ![]()

I just love the underside of piers… call me crazy but there’s something so fabulous about a gorgeous couple in the midst of all of the columns with the light streaming in… I just can’t get enough
The beach around the pier has so many fun patterned and colorful walls to shoot in front of… I definitely want to go back again!
After wandering the beach we headed back up to the cute little “downtown” area and had a quick outfit change for the rest of the session. I love this series… Rocio’s shirt was so cute and I love them against this pink wall!
This is a definite favorite
You know I love a couple in converse sneakers!
Rocio and Rob thank you so much for making the trip down to Manhattan Beach for your engagement session! You two were such a blast to hang out with and I had so much fun going through all of your photos… I can’t wait to show you the rest
Jennifer and Parker are getting married in Chicago so I won’t be lucky enough to be their wedding photographer, but I did have the pleasure of meeting up with them for an afternoon in Santa Monica. They are such a fun couple and they were great sports to put up with the massively windy day we had for their session! Who knew that the Santa Monica pier would re-create the Chicago winds for them? I had a great time with you guys and wish you all the best
Here are a couple of my favorites from your session!
Definitely a favorite… so cute!
Jennifer is going to make such a gorgeous bride!
And of course I always love some late afternoon warm light!
Just in case anyone from Chicago wonders where the photos were taken
A street shot with the Santa Monica Blvd. sign!
Thank you Jennifer and Parker for being such good sports and putting up with the freezing wind, you were real troopers and it certainly made my job easier. I hope you have a fabulous wedding in Chicago!
