Wow!! What an unbelievable day (and night) yesterday! Being pregnant with twins is tough stuff. If you’ve been following my wedding posts you’ll know that I had to have some great backup shooters cover my last weddings for me since I was put on bedrest a few weeks ago. The idea was to stop any signs of preterm labor and keep our babies growing inside as long as possible.
Well earlier this week our doctor decided that the bedrest at home just wasn’t enough and I was checked into the hospital on Tuesday. They had a hunch that the babies were on the way, so they wanted to make sure that they (and I) got as much attention and monitoring as possible. Since they were going to be early I was given a series of shots to help mature the babies’ lungs and we are so glad that I did because the babies are breathing fabulously!
Long story short(er) at around 2:00 in the afternoon yesterday the doctors decided that my mild preterm labor contractions had transitioned into full blown labor and it was birthday! The whole experince from that point on was a complete whirlwind. Apparently when I go into labor I REALLY go into labor
The doctor’s first estimate was that the babies would be born between midnight and 3 am, so he went home planning to come back later. By 6:30 that evening they were frantically paging the doctor to come back because the babies were ON THE WAY!! I can’t believe how fast the whole process went, the babies were born at 7:50 and 7:57, completely shocking everyone with their speedy arrival!
And now the part you’ve been waiting for…. photos!! The little guys had to go to the NICU for a checkup even though they were looking great, so Ben went with them and took some super cute photos for me to see them… meet our peanuts!
Amelia Ann, weighing in at 4lbs 13oz, 18 inches long

and Paul Joseph, weight and height EXACTLY the same as Amelia

Ben and I are over the moon! I can’t believe our little ones are here and I can’t wait to bring them home with us. I will be in the hospital for a few days, and the babies will be as well. Hopefully we will all be together at home in a week or two. Thank you to everyone for your well wishes and encouragement, we really appreciate it
