Erin & Darrin Engaged!

I have known Erin for years and years since she is the sister of one of my good friends, and I was SO excited when I found out she was getting married! I was even more excited when I found out that I was going to be able to shoot her wedding for her in April because I know it’s going to be absolutely fabulous! Erin works in the wedding “biz” and has fantastic taste so I know it’s going to be a gorgeous event! Erin and Darrin wanted to take their engagement photos early, before I get super hugely pregnant :) so we met up in downtown Carlsbad (that’s just north of San Diego for you non-local folks) for their session last weekend. We had a great time and they were total naturals in front of the camera! They wanted a couple of photos down by the beach as well so we finished up the afternoon on the sand. These two are so darn cute together that it was hard to pick favorites, but here are a few of the standouts from our time together… enjoy!

See… I told you these two were cute and total naturals in front of the camera :) Such great smiles on both of them!

This next one is one of my favorites! Love it!

The beach was a bit overcast which can lead to less than spectacular sunsets, but we made do with a bit of added lighting. I actually really like how these turned out!

Another favorite! What a good lookin’ couple :)

Erin and Darrin I had such a great time with you two and I absolutely cannot wait for your wedding. I know it’s going to be spectactular! Good luck with all the planning and see you in April :)

Allison & Mark Engaged!

Ok so pretty much the same disclaimer has to go with this post as the last one…. be prepared for lots of images, lots of all caps and exclamations, and gratuitous numbers of smiley faces :) Here comes the engagement session that I shot last weekend for my fantabulous little sister Allison and her fiance Mark! I cannot possibly overstate how much my sister means to me, she is one of my absolute bestest of friends, she knows all of my secrets, and well, I’ve just known her all her life so you can’t get much closer than that :) I was so excited to find out that she was getting married (I think I may have scared the other diners in the restaurant where I got the phone call since I was shrieking so much) and I couldn’t be happier that Mark is the lucky guy! We took their engagement photos on a fabulous San Diego afternoon in Balboa Park and had a blast (as long as we stayed in the shade, because man oh man was it hot out!) Hold on to your seats because this is about to be a super long photo post with a super good lookin’ couple :) Are you ready?

Balboa park is so stinkin’ scenic aint it? I LOVE San Diego :)

I like to call this one the super hero shot, it’s totally going on the poster for any future action movies they happen to star in :)

I told you these two were good looking… man I can’t wait to see their kids ;) (just kidding guys, you can wait at least a month or two after the wedding, haha!)

I’m not sure why but this is one of my favorites… I think I like the color of blue with the awesome red dress. If you’re wondering what to wear in an engagement session and you look good in red, it almost always looks fabulous in photographs!

And one last snap on the way back out to the car…. so cute!

Allison and Mark thanks so much for letting me drag you all around the park in the super hot afternoon. I love you guys and I CANNOT WAIT for your wedding (which by the way will be photographed by the super talented Mindy Sonshine and her husband Mike, I can’t wait to see the photos :) ) Allison… you can now officially stop blog stalking, you’re posted!! Now you just have to wait to see the FULL set…. aren’t you dying? :)

Chris & Tara Engaged!

I have to preface this post by saying that a) if there are a lot of photos, it’s just because I LOVE these two and I couldn’t decide :) and b) If I go overboard with the all caps, smiley faces, and exclamation points, once again it’s because I LOVE these two and I’m so excited that they’re getting married!!

Ok now that that’s out of the way it’s on to the engagement session. It’s not every day that you get to take engagement photos for your big brother, or that your big brother marries one of your best friends, so this was certainly a big day for me! I’ve always looked up to my brother and I certainly want him to have the very best, so talk about a lot of pressure to come up with some great photos! We did their session in the early morning, before the fog cleared out of San Diego county, while the lighting was even and we could run around to our hearts contents outdoors and not worry about those pesky things called shadows :) We started out at a great park Chris scoped out right near Pipes cafe (one of my favorite local Encinitas breakfast spots!) and then later on moved to my alma mater, San Dieguito high school (go Mustangs!) I had so much fun and like I said earlier… I had a super hard time deciding which ones to post! But enough of my chatter… on to the photos!!

One of my favorites… aren’t they SOOO cute?! :)

A couple in the flowers at the park… so scenic

And then on to San Dieguito for some change of scenery

One of the things I love about Chris is that he’s super funny (just ask him, he’ll tell you he’s hilarious :) ) and I think that Tara would agree. Throughout our whole session he kept making her burst out laughing and I absolutely love all of the shots of her with this huge genuine smile… what a happy couple :) AWWWW

Getting serious with the old school pads hat. Chris is a HUGE baseball fan!

And there’s that laugh again… I love it!

Chris and Tara I’m SOOOO excited (if I haven’t mentioned it already) that the two of you are getting married! I think that you are an absolute perfect match and I can’t wait for your wedding in December. Also a little shout out to my friend and photographer, Stacy Cross (who I’m sure will see these photos very soon!) who will be their wedding photographer! Since Stacy’s in Texas and Chris and Tara are currently residing in NYC it didn’t work out for her to take their engagement photos, but I can’t wait to see what she captures at their wedding and I’m sure she’s going to do an amazing job! If you’re getting married in Austin check her out :)

Things to Come…

As I mentioned in my last post I’ve been out of town for a week which explains my lack of blogging and my slow email response time in the last few days. If you’ve emailed me recently and haven’t heard back please sit tight and thank you so much for your patience! I didn’t have nearly as much free time for work on my trip as I would have liked and it’s going to take me a few days to get caught up.

So where exactly was I you may ask? I was down in San Diego visiting family and celebrating some pretty exciting news! It’s a big year for my family because both my brother AND my sister are recently engaged. My brother lives out in NYC with his fiance (who just happens to be one of my best friends from college, lucky me :) ) and they were in town for a fabulous fiesta engagement party. While we were all in town I was lucky enough to shoot engagement photos for both Chris and Tara and for Allison and Mark as well. I had an absolute blast and I cannot wait to show you both of these sessions. Working with people who are fun and bursting with personality (which all of these folks happen to be) is my absolute favorite and I have to admit that the fact that they’re all family made it just that much better.

I know that my sister is blog stalking me until I post up at least a teaser photo so I figured I’d do one from each session to hold everyone over until I get a chance to do the full post. So without further ado my fabulous siblings…

My brother Chris and his fiance Tara (sorry for the goofy hat photo Tara, I just couldn’t resist ;) it’s too cute!)

Jessica & Sal Engaged!

Jessica and Sal got engaged at Disneyland, so when it came time to pick a spot for their engagement photos it was the obvious choice! I happen to love Disneyland so any chance to do my job (taking photographs) while hanging out with an awesome couple like these two AND roaming around the happiest place on earth all at the same time was like a perfect afternoon for me :) I loved how their super vibrant outfits just happened to go perfectly with all of the spots that we picked out while walking around, it was like it was meant to be! I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’ve been a little bit sparse in the blog posting but that’s just because I’ve actually been out of town for a whole week… more on that to come… so I haven’t had much time for getting my blog posts together. I did however manage to collect a few of my favorites from the session so that Jessica and Sal could get a sneak peek!

Trying to balance on a carousel while holding a camera in front of your face and avoiding being knocked over by the moving horses turned out to be trickier than I’d imagined, but I’m glad we tried it because I love this shot!

We also made a stop over in California Adventure for part of the afternoon. There are some great areas with bright colors, plus it was a lot less crowded!
