The [AG]WPJA (for those who don’t know) is the “artistic guild” of the Wedding Photojournalist Association, which is one of the organizations that I belong to. The easiest way to think of it is the WPJA + photoshop.
Each quarter the [AG]WPJA holds a contest to recognize the best work being done by photographers around the country, and even around the world. I entered a photo into their ceremony category and was shocked the other day when browsing the winners to see this image pop up:

Now I don’t exactly consider 15th place to be a win… more of an honorable mention, but considering the competition I was still blown away and completely honored by the recognition. I will definitely be entering more images in the future! If you want to see more of the amazing photographs from the contest, check out the [AG]WPJA Q4 contest gallery. Next time it will be a real win for me.
ps… regarding the judge’s comment… I was actually kneeling on the floor in this photo and the couple was seated. So much for a lower camera angle, but I still love the shot! The woman in the background is the bride’s mother
