The [AG]WPJA (for those who don’t know) is the “artistic guild” of the Wedding Photojournalist Association, which is one of the organizations that I belong to. The easiest way to think of it is the WPJA + photoshop. 
Each quarter the [AG]WPJA holds a contest to recognize the best work being done by photographers around the country, and even around the world. I entered a photo into their ceremony category and was shocked the other day when browsing the winners to see this image pop up:
Now I don’t exactly consider 15th place to be a win… more of an honorable mention, but considering the competition I was still blown away and completely honored by the recognition. ps… regarding the judge’s comment… I was actually kneeling on the floor in this photo and the couple was seated. So much for a lower camera angle, but I still love the shot! The woman in the background is the bride’s mother

is it AG really b/c of toning? ~ am still trying to get my hands around WPJA vs [AG]WPJA….read their statement on toning, but still can’t quite get my hands around why sepia tone means the image is something other than documentary art. Is there other “photoshop enhancement” type of work I’m not even detecting. I really love it as is…it just has me thinking on this early morning. As always, peeking at your blog is downright uplifting.
