I had a great engagement session this afternoon with Jennifer and Tim! They are such a sweet couple and we had a great time roaming around Santa Monica all afternoon. Jennifer is absolutely adorable and SO excited to see her photos, so I decided to post a little sneak peek this evening for her 
I have a VERY busy weekend coming up with weddings and engagements, so I might not get the rest of these up until Monday (sorry Jennifer!!) so I hope that these three will tide you over until then!
Oh my goodness, where to start?! Sam and Will contacted me last year about shooting their wedding and as soon as we met I knew we were going to be a perfect match! They are such a sweet, fun, and adorable couple! When I suggested a couple of locations for their engagement session, they picked the one that I was secretly hoping for, and I was SO excited! One of the little-known facts about me is that I used to be an architect. I have to say that this is one of my absolute favorite buildings in Los Angeles so my nerdy little architect self got absolutely giddy at the idea of shooting here! Once we met up at the location we had the most amazing time, laughing and joking and running around to explore all of the nooks and crannies of the location to make sure we didn’t miss any key spots. I had an absolute ball with them and I’m totally in love with all of the photos from this session! I’ve decided to include a couple of my favorites here on the blog for you to look at, plus, since I just can’t get enough, a slideshow at the end.
Sam and Will I absolutely cannot wait for your wedding! And for all of the blog readers out there… I thought that the location guessing game was pretty fun from the teaser… so you’re just going to have to leave me comments guessing where this was. Most of you will probably get it right away once you see a couple of wide exterior shots. First person to guess right wins!

I think the inside of this building is just as absolutely fabulous as the out but it’s not often you see photographers roaming the interiors…. maybe it’s because of the security guards
The scale of the place is amazing! We got a tiny break in the cloudy sky that let through a bit of late afternoon glow… so pretty!
Rain was forecast for Sunday so we’d decided to bring umbrellas for a cute rainy day shoot. It ended up not really raining but we figured we’d use them anyways just for kicks I thought it’d be fun to do some jumping shots but they were having a hard time jumping at the same time…
Until we handed the umbrella to Will… perfect

I had an amazing engagement session yesterday at one of my absolute favorite spots! I am so excited to finish sorting and editing the images so that I can post them all up here for you to see… but I just couldn’t bear to go any longer without showing you at least one Any guesses where this is?
I hope to get the rest of these up in the next day or so and I have lots more fun sessions coming up as well so keep checking in!
Ok… now this really has nothing to do with wedding or portrait photography (at least not anytime soon) and it really comes from out of nowhere, but I just saw this video (found in the core77 design blog, who found it on the techeblog) and it was so amazingly fantastical of an idea that I just had to share it. A lens (really 19 lenses in one) that takes photos that when composited, make a three dimensional image with variable depth of field… it’s crazy-talk! I think that even if you’re not a photographer you’ll appreciate how amazing this would be. Take a look at this video:
When I first talked with Melyssa and Jeff about shooting their wedding this summer, Melyssa was skeptical about the idea of having an engagement session. She told me she was a little bit shy in front of the camera and really didn’t love having her picture taken. I ALWAYS encourage my couples to do an engagement session, especially if they’re camera shy, because wouldn’t you rather get used to being in front of my camera BEFORE your wedding day?
We met at the Torrey Pines state reserve in the late afternoon for some gorgeous warm light, and had an absolute blast shooting. After hiding from the camera initially (I actually think she yelped a little and ducked behind Jeff when I took it out of my bag) Melyssa calmed down a bit and started looking amazingly comfortable in front of the lens. They are such a wonderful couple and their love for each other couldn’t help coming through in all of their images. Thank you so much for agreeing to do an engagement session, I can’t wait for your wedding in July!
Does this look like the face of someone who’s camera shy to you? They are so cute together and they were completely relaxed once they realized that having their portraits taken meant lots of cutesy couple time, not scary posed awkwardness
The sunset light is so warm and yummy and we had a perfect day for shooting! I love it!
After a bit of shooting up on the cliffs we followed one of the hikes down to the beach. My flip flops really weren’t meant for hiking but I think the shots we got down on the beach were worth the couple of cactus thorns in my feet
I couldn’t decide which one of these I liked better so I just posted both, SO cute!!
Oh my goodness I LOVE this one! The look on her face is priceless! Melyssa and Jeff are so sweet together!
